Almost exactly 200 years ago, on January 28, 1813, Jane Austen's novel Pride and Prejudice was published for the first time. Pride and Prejudice is Austen's most popular novel through the ages, and is often considered one of the great novels in the English language as well.

Besides numerous reprints, Pride and Prejudice has been adapted as plays, films, and TV series. Additionally, it has been used as inspiration for non-direct adaptations, like the Bollywood style movie Bride and Prejudice, the horror novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and Helen Fielding's book plus subsequent movie Bridget Jones's Diary.
